Rules & Terms

Registration

  • Registering for the competition is acceptance of all rules and terms listed in this document.
  • Entry is free.
  • Each person may only register once.
  • Your name and email address shall not be published anywhere, and is used only for correspondence.
  • Participation in the SEABL Tipping Competition by SEABL Players, Referees and Coaches is prohibited.

    Scoring Guidelines

  • Tips must be received by the game commencement time as published on the web site. By default, all times on the website and in emails are listed in Australian Eastern Standard Time. Users can change this setting. The current timezone is listed in the bottom right-hand corner of each page.
  • Tippers are allowed to alter tips at any time prior to the official game commencement time.
  • Under no circumstances will tips be accepted after a game has commenced.
  • The administrators of this competition cannot accept tips via any method other than the web site. This includes accepting tips via email (i.e. tips sent in by email are not accepted).
  • Tippers will be allocated one point for the correct selection of a game winner. There are no draws in SEABL basketball.
  • Tippers will be ranked firstly by their score, where the highest score is the highest rank, and then by their accumulated margin (see below)
  • “Margin difference” means the number of points between the margin entered by the tipper for the team they tip to win in the game of the week, and the actual margin for the game. If the tipper selects the game correctly, it is the difference between the chosen margin and the actual margin. If the game is selected incorrectly, the margin difference is the selected margin number plus the actual margin number. When two or more users’ scores are tied, tippers with a lower margin difference are ranked higher than those with a higher margin.
  • “Accumulated margin” means the sum of the margin differences for all rounds to date for a tipper. Tippers with a lower accumulated margin are ranked higher than those with a higher accumulated margin.
  • Tippers that do not enter tips for an entire round will be allocated the away teams for each game not entered. The default margin awarded for each margin game missed is the average margin selected by all other users.
  • If a tipper joins after the season has commenced, he or she is allocated the away teams for all missed games, and the average selected margin for each missed margin game.

    Prizes

  • Please refer to the Prizes & Winners page for details on the prizes.
  • Weekly winners will be determined by the user’s score for the round in question, and then by their margin difference for that round, and then by their overall score and accumulated margin for the whole season. Where a draw occurs between 2 or more players that cannot be split by countback, then the winner shall be the person who entered their tips at the earliest time for that round.
  • Overall winners (i.e. end of season winners) will be determined by score and then by accumulated margin. Where tippers have identical scores and identical accumulated margins, the winner is chosen by a random draw conducted by SEABL.
